Halloween

Halloween went well. Maya woke up from her nap a little late and was a little fussy. We put her in her costume and dropped her in the wagon and pulled her down the street to show off to the neighbors. We went to just a couple of houses, it was pretty cold out and we had to swaddle her in two blankets as we went around. Finally, we ended up at a little neighborhood restaurant with C’s Dad and a couple of the neighbors. Pictures below. (Click for bigger version)

Before going home we swung buy our favorite little pub by our house with the neighbors to trick or treat. It is a Tuesday and empty so we had no problem taking them in there (so no calls to DCFS) for a few photo ops. It is a little blurry, but the guy in the middle is the owner.

Beware of trick or treating. As kids get bigger, the haul does too. In addition to the 4 bags of candy bought, 5 pieces served, soon, you'll have a whole pumpkin full of candy to deal with too. How to deal with this....Well my thought was to bring our kid to the neighbor community that has trick or treat on the weekend, then serve up the candy to the kids at our door. 2 day lag to not eat the entire haul.

Sending your kids out also entitles you to first choice. My parents used to sort through our candy and "look" for razors. Urban legend. They were after the best pieces first.

Full agreement, on "Dance monkey", but initial impulse is hard to beat. We had the neighborhood compound at our house. I was so excited for a trick or treater, I wanted to give them all the candy...but my neighbor stopped me, and said it in ears shot...putting on a scream mask and sweat pants doesnt warrant more than one piece.

We did get a kick butt Yoda who talked in Yoda. Not the prebought one at the store, real face paint, real robe, and a yard stick. it was HOT!!!

Keep Running, and dont slip on any posters.

Great costume! It looks like Maya had a wonderful Halloween. I was so happy that you posted again. We love to check your site. Our daughter, Maya, is from Youxian too. She is 16 months old. I love to show her pictures of your Maya. They may have played together at some point. We look forward to the next post.
